Frequently asked questions

Short, direct answers about Beyond Borders Group (BBTRD): who we are, what we supply, which manufacturers we represent in Iraq, the projects we have delivered and how to work with us.

About Beyond Borders

The group, its companies and how it works.

What is Beyond Borders (BBTRD)?

Beyond Borders Group (BBTRD, bbtrd.com) is an engineering procurement partner for refinery, petrochemical, energy and heavy-industrial equipment in Iraq and the MENA region. We specify, source, ship, install, commission and support equipment from European, North American and Asian manufacturers, working through our own companies in Germany, Iraq, Qatar and the USA.

Where are Beyond Borders' offices?

The group has four companies: Lipsia MCT GmbH, Geibelstr. 39, 04129 Leipzig, Germany (European headquarters); Al Afaq Alaabirah, 14 Ramadhan Street, Al Mansour, Baghdad, Iraq (project operations); Beyond Borders LLC, Al Fardan Office Tower, 14th Floor, West Bay, Doha, Qatar (Gulf operations); and Beyond Borders Group, 651 N Broad Street, Middletown, Delaware 19709, USA (North American sourcing). Registration numbers are on the contact page.

How long has Beyond Borders been in business?

The group's foundations go back to 2006 in German–Iraqi industrial trade, when Lipsia MCT GmbH was established in Leipzig. The US entity followed in 2022, the Baghdad entity in 2024 and the Qatar Financial Centre entity in Doha in 2025.

Is Beyond Borders a trading company?

No. Beyond Borders is an engineering procurement partner, an authorised representative and distributor where formally appointed, and a local execution and after-sales partner. We do not buy and resell without technical accountability. Every project has a named responsible engineer and a single commercial point of contact. More on the about page.

What we supply, who makes it and who installs it.

What equipment and services does Beyond Borders supply?

Twelve categories: rotating equipment (API 610 pumps and compressors); static equipment and pressure vessels (heat exchangers and boilers); industrial valves and flow control; flow measurement and metering; pipeline monitoring and leak detection; loading arms and terminal systems; automation, DCS and SCADA; laboratory instruments; refractory and metallurgical solutions; storage tanks and terminal construction; civil, mechanical and electrical works; and maintenance and spare parts. Each is described on the solutions page.

Which manufacturers does Beyond Borders represent in Iraq?

We are the official distributor in Iraq for Gassó (loading arms and terminal equipment) and Vesuvius / Foseco (refractory and metallurgical products). We also work in documented technical cooperation with KROHNE, JC Valves, Amarinth, ITT Goulds Pumps, Strobl Pumpen, Quiri, Lointek, Bauer Kompressoren, PAC / Koehler, Tokyo Keiso and Siemens, ABB and Emerson, and Atlas Copco is a strategic supplier. See the partner network.

Does Beyond Borders install and commission equipment in Iraq?

Yes. Our Baghdad company, Al Afaq Alaabirah, handles site supervision, mechanical and electrical installation, commissioning, operator training, after-sales service and spare parts. The equipment and the site work sit under one contract with one named responsible engineer.

Which industries does Beyond Borders serve?

Oil and gas, refineries, petrochemicals, terminals and storage, pipelines, power and utilities, steel and metallurgy, cement and heavy industry, government industrial projects, and industrial laboratories, in Iraq and the wider MENA region. See industries.

Does Beyond Borders provide spare parts and after-sales support?

Yes. Our Baghdad team provides in-country first response, warranty coordination, planned maintenance and emergency on-site response, with genuine OEM spare parts sourced through our Leipzig and Delaware entities. Emergency project support is available to active clients.

We also hold an ongoing Vesuvius / Foseco supply contract with the General Company for Copper. See projects and references.

Is Beyond Borders an approved vendor with Iraqi state companies?

How can a foreign manufacturer sell industrial equipment in Iraq?

Most industrial procurement in Iraq runs through state-owned companies via public tenders, invitations to registered vendors and framework contracts. Success depends on vendor registration and prequalification, complete technical submittals, acceptable bonds and payment instruments, documentary customs clearance, and local installation and warranty capability. Beyond Borders can act as authorised representative or distributor and covers these steps. Read the market-entry guide. This is general information, not legal advice.

How does Beyond Borders handle payments and letters of credit?

Contracts are settled through European and Gulf banking channels. Our Qatar entity, Beyond Borders LLC, coordinates letters of credit and the international banking interface, so manufacturers contract with a counterparty operating through European and Gulf banking rather than directly with local payment cycles.

How do I become a Beyond Borders manufacturer partner?

Send a partnership enquiry with your company, products and target sectors. We respond to qualified manufacturer enquiries within three working days. Every relationship we publish carries an explicit status label, such as official distributor, authorised representative or technical cooperation, and is shown only with a documented agreement.
